Dear ADHD Gods,

This weekend is the first time we have left Leni overnight since his diagnosis without either myself or hubby staying behind.

It’s not that we haven’t wanted to leave him with anyone but we find it hard because he loves his routine and we worry that his early mornings and hyperactivity could be overwhelming for some.

Fortunately we have amazing friends who we consider family and they are minding Leni and his brother for the weekend so we can attend a wedding. We didn’t hesitate to ask our friends because our boys love them and they look after them like they are their own.

ADHD Gods please listen carefully, we don’t want them to run into a Leni meltdown or have him wake everyone up at the crack of dawn so please try to keep him calm and busy. If you must use Nutella then please do. Lots of it is fine with me.

We know he is in safe hands but this is a really big deal for us so I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed that all will go well.

He will probably swear 😬 he will still wake up at 6am and it’s highly likely he will have moments that require patience and lots of it so please have my back!

Let us enjoy one child free weekend. It doesn’t happen often and it’s long overdue, like almost 2 years overdue.

ADHD gods, this is a great chance for everyone to practice just how things will go when it’s time for school camp in 2 weeks but I know that’s going to take more then a few Hail Mary’s.

Leaving Leni is hard but it’s also a great chance for him and for us to practice resilience and grow from the experience. Hubby and I need to have faith that things will be ok and Leni needs to know that he can trust others to care for him like we do.

Let’s see how things go but I guess you could say this one is to be continued……
